The history of Japanese whisky is an intriguing one. In 1923, Shinjiro Torii founded the Yamazaki Distillery, kickstarting the Japanese whisky industry. Almost a decade later, Masataka Taketsuru, who had helped launch Yamazaki, founded the Yoichi Distillery in Hokkaido. Their two companies, Suntory and Nikka, went on to dominate the whisky industry in Japan. However, they are not alone, especially in today's vibrant whisky scene.

This Japan Whisky Map showcases all 44 genuine distilleries in Japan, excluding any importers or bottlers of fake whisky. It features some of the iconic distilleries that have ceased operations and the newly established ones as well, making it an ideal reference for any Japanese whisky enthusiast.

And whether you buy the poster or not, check out this helpful guide to authentic Japanese whisky distilleries.

The brands featured on the poster are Ichiro’s Malt “The First Ten,” Yamazaki 12-Year, Yoichi 10-Year, Hibiki 30-Year, and Mars Iwai “Tradition.”
